Preserve Safe is a calculator and reference tool. It helps you adjust a tested recipe's processing time or pressure for your altitude, and provides general home canning safety information and a small set of reference processing times sourced from published USDA/NCHFP-derived guidance. It is not a complete recipe source, not a substitute for a real tested recipe for your specific food, and not a guarantee of food safety. Home canning carries a real risk of foodborne illness, including botulism, if done incorrectly. You are responsible for following a complete, tested recipe from a reliable source (such as the National Center for Home Food Preservation, nchfp.uga.edu, or the USDA Complete Guide to Home Canning) for your specific food, and for verifying any number this app gives you against that source before relying on it.
We've cross-checked the reference data in this app against multiple independent sources, but canning guidance can change, and we can't guarantee every number is current or error-free for your exact situation (your canner, your ingredients, your jar size). When in doubt, consult the official NCHFP/USDA guidance directly, or a county Cooperative Extension office.
Your saved recipes and batch log stay on your device. We don't have a copy of it, so we can't back it up or recover it for you if you lose your device — use the Pro CSV export if your batch log matters to you.
Pro is a one-time purchase that unlocks unlimited saved recipes and the Batch Log with CSV export, and removes ads. Purchases are processed by Stripe. Because Pro is delivered instantly as a license key upon payment, purchases are generally final; if something goes wrong with delivery, contact us and we'll sort it out.
This app is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, including for the accuracy or completeness of the canning reference data.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Preserve Safe is not liable for any damages, including illness or property loss, arising from your use of this app or reliance on its calculations or reference data. Home canning safety is ultimately your responsibility, following a complete tested recipe.
We may update these terms or the app at any time. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
